Discounts and benefits

Discounts and preferences apply only to 2nd and 3rd class train tickets.


Groups

10 % The discount applies to groups of 6-10 people travelling on the same day, train and route, provided the tickets have been purchased at a ticket office or online. 
15 % The discount applies to groups of 11-24 people travelling on the same day, train and route, provided the tickets have been purchased at a ticket office or online.
20 % The discount applies to groups of 25 and more people travelling on the same day, train and route, provided the tickets have been purchased at a ticket office or online.
30 % The discount applies to groups of school students (11 or more persons, including accompanying 2 adults) travelling on the same day, train and route, provided the tickets have been purchased at a ticket office or online.
Documents required: A free-form application is only required when purchasing at the box office.

 



Returning passengers


5 % discount applies to return tickets when purchasing one-way tickets for the same return ticket for Class 2 and 3 seats.

 

Loyal passengers


5 % discount will be applied to Passengers, having a loyalty card of AB “Lietuvos geležinkeliai“, UAB “LG Keleiviams“ or UAB „LTG Link“ and buying a one-way suburban train ticket. The discount is applicable to 2 and 3 Class tickets.
20 % The discount applies to shipment delivery services.

Children


According to the Law on Transport Relief of the Republic of Lithuania, discounts are applied to children traveling on Class 2 and Class 3 seats of local train trains.

50 % The discount applies to children up to 7 years old who want to take a separate seat during the trip, third and all other children if traveling with multiple children up to 7 years old and children from 7 to 10 years old.
100 % The discount applies to children under the age of 7 without taking a separate seat. One passenger is entitled to travel with two children under 7 years of age.
Documents required: Birth certificate or ID. 


Noteworthy:
In the case of Class I wagons, there is no discount, and children get a full ticket.
Children under the age of 6 are not sold tickets without adults and are not allowed to travel alone on trains.
The age of the child is determined by the number of years the child has reached ad the date of departure of the train.

Pupils


30 % discount for pupils of general education schools of the Republic of Lithuania. When purchasing tickets online, in the "Discount code, card/voucher no." field, the code "MOKSLEIVIS" should be selected. The discount applies to tickets for 2nd and 3rd class seats.
Documents required: Certificate of general education school of the Republic of Lithuania.

Teachers


5 % The discount applies to teachers who hold an electronic teacher's licence. The discount applies to trips within Lithuania. 
Documents required: Electronic teacher‘s license.

Disabled persons


50 % The discount applies to persons with partial working capacity and retired persons with moderate special needs, recognised in accordance with relevant legislation (i.e., persons assigned group II disability prior to 1 July 2005).

Documents required: Certificate of disability, pension recipient’s certificate, work capacity certificate, certificate of work capacity level due to accident at work or occupational disease.


80 % The discount applies to persons with a degree of disability and persons who have been recognized as disabled children prior to 1 July 2005, as well as to the persons accompanying them (one companion per person).
Documents required: Certificate of disability, pension recipient’s certificate, certificate of work capacity level due to accident at work or occupational disease, disability level certificate.

80 % The discount applies to persons recognized as incapable for work, retired persons recognised to have severe special needs in accordance with relevant legislation, persons recognized with group I disability prior to 1 July 2005, as well as to the persons  accompanying them (one companion per person).
Documents required: Certificate of disability, pension recipient’s certificate, certificate of work capacity level due to accident at work or occupational disease, disability level certificate.


80 % The discount applies to persons suffering from illnesses specified in the list of illnesses provided by the Ministry of Health, who require haemodialysis, as well as to persons accompanying them (one companion per person). 
Documents required: Certificate.


80 % The discount applies to defenders of the independence of the Republic of Lithuania recognised with partial capacity for work or those who have reached the age of retirement, and who have been recognised to have moderate special needs in accordance with relevant legislation (i.e., persons assigned group II or III disability prior to 1 July 2005) due to the aggression suffered on 11-13 January 1991 and afterwards. 
Documents required: Certificate granting an 80% discount on travelling to defenders of the independence of the Republic of Lithuania who suffered from the aggression perpetrated by the USSR on 11-13 January 1991 and afterwards.

Victims


50 % The discount applies to participants of resistance to the occupations of 1940-1990 – volunteer soldiers under 70 years of age.
Documents required: Volunteer soldier certificate, freedom fighter certificate.


50 % The discount applies to persons who have suffered from the occupations of 1939-1990 – political prisoners and deportees, and former prisoners of ghettos, concentration camps, and forced labour camps of other types.
Documents required: Certificate of a  victim (deportee, political prisoner, repressed person).


50 % The discount applies to defenders of the independence of the Republic of Lithuania who have suffered from the aggression perpetrated by the USSR on 11-13 January 1991 and afterwards.
Documents required: Freedom defender’s certificate.


80 % The discount applies to participants of the resistance to the occupation of 1940-1990 – volunteer soldiers aged 70 or over.
Documents required: A volunteer soldier certificate along with a document proving age.


80 % The discount applies to the family members of deceased defenders of the independence of the Republic of Lithuania, who have suffered from the aggression perpetrated by the USSR on 11-13 January 1991 and afterwards.
Documents required: Victim identification certificate.


80 % The discount applies to persons under 70 or over, who have suffered from the occupation of 1939-1940 – political prisoners and deportees, and former prisoners of ghettos, concentration camps, and forced labour camps of other types.

Documents required: Victim (deportee, political prisoner, or repressed person) identification certificate, along a document proving identity and age)


Seniors


50 % The discount applies to persons aged 70-80.

80 % The discount applies to persons aged 80 and over.
Documents required: 
Retirement certificate, 
Pension Recipient's certificate, Social security (social) pension, Social Compensation Recipient's certificate, ID)


Students


50 % The discount applies to higher education students pursuing full-time or day-time studies, citizens of the Republic of Lithuania, other Member States of the European Union and countries of the European Economic Area, as well as their family members, studying in higher education establishments of the Member States of the European Union or countries of the European Economic Area under full-time or day-time programmes.

Documents required: Lithuanian Student Identity Card or International Student Identity Card (ISIC) along with ID


50 % Students pursuing formal vocational training programmes organised in groups on a daily basis, or individually on a self-study basis.

Documents required:  Lithuanian Student Identity Card, International Student Identity Card (ISIC).


50 % The discount applies to school students attending schools which implement special curriculum programmes.

Documents required: Student certificate of the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Art.

Family card


Family card holders are subject to 20 % discount for travel by local trains in Lithuania. Discount applies from 2020 1 January.
Discount applies with benefits, does not apply with commercial discounts, does not apply to fixed  time tickets, does not apply to 1 class tickets.

Ticket purchase - discount applied to SEIMA. Tickets can be purchased online.

Required Documents: Family Card (real, plastic or virtual on the smart device) and family members identity documents.

POLA cardholders


80 % The benefit  applies to  persons  with  oncological  diseases  and those with a  POLA  card. The change takes effect on 1 January 2021.

Ticket purchase - The discount applies when entering code POLA by the card holders. Tickets can be purchased online, trains tation and on trains.

Required documents:  POLA  card    and    identity  document.


Fixed-term tickets


A multiple nominal fixed-term ticket for domestic train journeys entitles to 50 % discount.

Passengers with Interrail/Eurail passes


Travelers on all domestic routes with a valid Eurail or Interrail passport get a 100 % discount on single 2nd and 3rd class train tickets. This discount is temporarily not available when purchasing tickets online, however this can be done at physical ticketing points (at ticket offices at stations and on board trains from travel attendants).

Required Documents: The ticket is valid only when submitted together with an activated, valid Eurail or Interrail passport.
