We are delighted to offer you the new and HIGHLY anticipated international route Vilnius-Riga-Vilnius!


The train routes are direct, without any transfers, and the trains run EVERY DAY!




From 2025, your favourite international route, Vilnius-Riga-Vilnius, at an even more convenient time!


  • The train will leave Vilnius at 7:05 every day and arrive in Riga at 11:04. This will reduce your travel time to Riga to 3 hours 59 minutes!
  • The train will leave Riga at 16:55 and arrive in Vilnius at 21:05.




Good news for travellers with children:


From now on we offer a 50% discount for CHILDREN aged 6 to 16. And as a reminder, children under six years of age travel for free if they do not occupy a separate seat on the train (for up to one child travelling with one adult).

Ticketing procedures

You can buy train tickets for the Vilnius-Riga-Vilnius international route in the following ways:

  • Online and on the mobile application – no earlier than 60 days before the train departure date.
  • From ticket machines at the railway stations (only in Lithuania and only by card payment).
  • At „Perlas“ terminals (only in Lithuania and by paying in cash) – no earlier than 10 days before the train departure date.
  • On board the train, only during the journey (tickets for this journey are often sold out in advance, so there may not be any seats available on the train on the day of departure).

Important information

  • Commercial discounts (except for children) and concessions are not available for tickets on international train routes.
  • Tickets are not sold for the trips from Jelgava to Riga and from Riga to Jelgava, and there are no local passenger services within the territory of the Republic of Latvia (from Jelgava to Riga and from Riga to Jelgava).
  • Passengers must carry proof of identity with them when travelling.

Tickets for Eurail / Interrail travel pass holders

Passengers travelling on this route must reserve a seat independently on the website www.ltglink.lt, in the mobile application (APPs) and on trains from travel attendants. The reservation fee for 1st and 2nd class is €5.

FAQ

  • How long will the trip take?  The trip time between Vilnius and Riga is approximately 4 hours. Please note that the schedule changes slightly throughout the year, so you can always find the exact schedule here.
  • Will there be discounts for children? Yes. Children under 6 years of age travel free of charge if they do not occupy a separate seat on the train (for up to 1 child travelling with 1 adult passenger). Children aged 6-16 years will receive a 50% discount. Children aged 16 and over will be charged full price. 
  • Can bicycles and pets be transported together? Of course. The fixed price for transporting a bicycle is EUR 10. Small dogs and other small animals (up to a maximum of two) that must be transported in a special container (basket, crate, cage, etc.) are transported free of charge. There is a fixed fee of EUR 5 for animals that do not fit into a special container. Special containers cannot be carried in passenger seats. Dogs and other animals must be accompanied by a valid European pet passport and comply with health and hygiene requirements.
  • Will concessions and commercial discounts apply on this route? On an international route, no such discounts (except for children) or concessions are available when buying a ticket. Commercial discounts and concessions are applied to travel tickets for the section of the route between railway stations in Lithuania only. 
  • Is this a direct route? Yes, this route is direct.
  • Will travel be free for Ukrainian citizens? No. Ukrainian citizens travel free of charge by train within Lithuania. Standard fares apply for the international route.
  • Will the trains be adapted for passengers with individual needs? Yes, trains on the Vilnius-Riga-Vilnius route will be adapted for passengers with individual needs.
