Updated procedure: free train transport for all people fleeing the Russian war in Ukraine.

In order to provide even more targeted support, from 1 September, the initiative for free essential transport by train will be available to all people fleeing the Russian war in Ukraine for three months after the issuance of the registration card, i.e. at the time of travel by train, less than three months must have passed since the card was issued.


According to the information provided by the Migration Department, the registration card for foreigners who have left Ukraine and arrived in Lithuania due to Russian military aggression is given immediately after applying to the Lithuanian registration centres. It is granted both to Ukrainians and to persons who are not citizens of Ukraine, but have used international protection or have legally resided permanently in Ukraine.


Single tickets for free train services will continue to be issued on trains or at ticket offices.


FROM 1 SEPTEMBER:


It is mandatory to present a passport or personal identity card and a registration card issued by the Migration Department. In case of children – a birth certificate and a registration card issued by the Migration Department.


The free train transport initiative will be available for 3 months from the issue of the registration card.


Transportation services for hand luggage up to 35 kg, scooters up to 8 kg, and animals transported in a special container will be provided free of charge. Other additional services will be provided under normal terms applicable to regular passengers.
