By bike around the forts of the Kaunas fortress (65 km)

Driving along this route, you can get acquainted not only with the forts, but also with other defensive structures of the Kaunas fortress: batteries, hideouts, armories, cult buildings, barracks, administrative and other purpose structures.


This cycling route is full of history, cultural heritage and natural objects: mounds, manors, nature reserves, museums, outcrops and other objects worth seeing.

65 km route


The length of this cycling route is about 65 km, which is recommended to be completed in two days. On the first day, after starting the journey from Fort IX, you can stop, rest and have lunch at Fort III. Further, it is recommended to continue the trip to Fort V, and after covering 40 km, stay for rest. Here you will find a designated place for a campfire and camping. On the second day, you can continue your journey from Fort V to Fort IX. The length of the second day’s journey is about 25 km.


While traveling by bicycle, you will cross the Nemunas and Neris rivers three times, and cross the Jiesia river.
