The story of Gintarė and Valerijus

Gintarė & Valerijus

VALERIJUS: We are going from Vilnius to Klaipėda to pick up the car. We thought it was uneconomical to drive back and forth in two cars.

GINTARĖ: The earth will cry. And the wallet will cry. In August, we will travel to Palanga. On our way we decided that all four of us will travel there by train. Our children will have fun, an attraction, and a lecture on ecology.

VALERIJUS: We are just getting started moving as our kids are finally grown. When they are small, traveling is very difficult. We were afraid of not making it, of being late, so we traveled by car.

GINTARĖ: And children’s moods are changing. When traveling on public transport, you never know what mood will visit them and what you will have to do. Our little one is very loud! Try to calm her down as much as you want, she still doesn’t pay attention. When you’re with the kids, you keep saying, “I’m sorry...” Most people understand.

GINTARĖ: It’s very comfortable here, the train is good, I sit like a lady, they bring me coffee and cake. No one pampers me like this in my life!

VALERIJUS: Only your husband!

GINTARĖ: Otherwise, I have to drive myself, and now we sit at the computers and work: we also had work video calls and answered letters. We didn’t take a break for the whole day, like we used to do when we were driving. In that case, we had to take care of things after work.

VALERIJUS: There is electricity, you don’t have to worry about your mobile devices running out of power. Public transport is very convenient. The bus stop is right next to the house. When there is such convenience, we travel. If we had to walk a kilometer, it would be different. And now we go to the old town, eat ice cream and come back. No need to park, it is cheaper.

GINTARĖ: We are simple. Convenience, environmental friendliness, practicality are not just words for us.
