The story of Kamilė and Orso

Kamilė & Orso

KAMILĖ: I live in Vilnius, but I often return to my family in Kaunas, so we travel back and forth together. Orso is nine years old. It’s all fluffy, so everyone thinks he’s a girl. Passenger under the seat. I like that you can feel more relaxed in the train, there is a lot of space, the staff are nice, they accept animals, it is very encouraging.

Orso is traumatized, it does not like strangers, gets confused when somebody talks to it. Even now it is hiding under the seat. It doesn’t feel comfortable everywhere, where it’s not home and where I’m not around. It doesn’t play, it doesn’t know how to. It never learned that, even though I taught it. The breeders failed to sell it, so Orso lived for a year locked up with ten other dogs in one room, and thus remained traumatized.

It even trembles at how much it likes chickpeas and seaweed leaves. I tried feeding Orso meat patties once. Orso tasted it and spat it out, apparently a naturally vegetarian. It eats dry food.

I am a homebody. I’m waiting for all the trips to end so I can be alone and breathe. I spend a lot of time at home, I work from home, I am a freelancer. When I sit down at the computer to work, Orso settles down nearby and begins to sigh. I tell Orso something and it leaves sighing to another room to rest from me. I seem to be annoying it by being around for so long. Because it doesn’t even have time for itself.

It will sound egocentric, but I think Orso likes me the most. Then, of course, chickpeas. And walks outside when there are no people. All its favorite things have additional conditions.
